Lovewick is a free relationship app that synthesizes the latest psychological research into activities that help couples connect more deeply, feel more appreciated, and have more fun in their relationships.
It’s easy to be pessimistic and guarded in love; we aspire to build products, services, and a brand that encourages people make the hard, brave choice to stay open-hearted and hopeful and provide a safe, judgment-free place for all couples to grow.
We create content and experiences that are meant to feel light-hearted and approachable while still rooted in legitimate insights from academics, therapists, and diverse couples. We aim to build trust without being a stuffy, prescriptive expert.

Decades of research show us that good relationships are fundamental to our health and well-being — the longest study ever done on health and happiness (Harvard Study of Adult Development) found that the quality of our relationships is even more predictive of a long, happy life than social class, IQ, or genes!
Despite that, we spend more time learning how to drive a car than how to cultivate fulfilling romantic relationships, and our expectations for our romantic relationships have only increased over time. Today, we want more than a ring, a roof, and a baby; we want a partner and a teammate who makes us feel deeply understood, appreciated, and supported while we grow together over time.
At Lovewick, we aim to make the world happier and healthier by giving couples the tools to do this: to love and be loved well, helping couples “work on” their relationships using tech that’s both fun and research-based.

Fresh out of a three year relationship, our founder Ali moved to London for grad school at the #1 school for Art & Design in the World, the Royal College of Art. Navigating dating apps for the first time was (frankly) a sh*tshow, and as she dated dozens of people over the next few years, she was struck by how there were countless apps to find love but virtually nothing other than therapy to cultivate or keep it.
Given her background studying and teaching in the Human Biology program at Stanford, she knew there was research that could help couples, and after writing her MA Dissertation on the future of love, tech, and design, she worried that if someone didn’t design something to help couples before the point of crisis, we’d start turning to our screens more than to each other.
When COVID-19 hit and couples were trapped at home and struggling, she knew she had a unique opportunity to help by creating an app that filled the gap between dating apps and couples’ therapy, helping couples “work on” their relationships using tech that’s both fun and research-based.
“If you build it, they will come” doesn’t quite work in entrepreneurship, so after launching the MVP app in the US in late 2020, Ali jumped on Reddit and TikTok to try to find “early adopter” couples.
Combining her background in both design and behavioral science, she used these channels to both learn about trending issues for modern couples and then create relatable content with a relationship science spin. This “recipe” has yielded several viral TikToks (35M+ views) and has attracted over 200k registered users to Lovewick with no marketing spend.
As of Valentine’s Day 2022, the company had raised a $1M pre-seed round led by Corazon Capital, a fund managed by former Match Group, Tinder, and OkCupid executives, and joined by other notable investors including Leadout Capital and Gaingels. The company is using these funds to grow their small but mighty team, make technology investments, and increase the audience they serve.
As the daughter of an evolutionary anthropologist and mission-driven CEO, Ali has always been fascinated by why people do what they do and how to scale these insights to help millions of people. She published her first academic papers at 18, collaborated with world-renowned behavioral scientists like Dr. Robert Sapolsky and conducted independent thesis research on religion & psychological resilience in undergrad, and wrote her interdisciplinary MA Dissertation on design, technology, and romantic love (topics included: dating apps, sex robots & VR porn, consensual non-monogamy, and so much more).
She’s also a proud queer female founder, and thinks that diverse perspectives and falling in love with problems, not solutions, leads to the best products.
No, Lovewick is a free app, which means the cost to download and use Lovewick is $0. Yes, you read that right. Starting in Spring 2024 we will offer an optional premium subscription which removes daily limits on question cards and provides access to specially curated question “collections” for life events such as meeting each other’s families, moving in together, getting a pet, or starting a family. This premium tier enables our small team to keep doing this important work that we love. Our pricing may change over time, but making Lovewick inclusive and affordable is extremely important to us even as we grow and change.
Yes! Lovewick is available both on iPhone iOS and Android and is free to download and use.
Lovewick provides a fun and intimate space for couples to nurture both the emotional and physical aspects of their relationships, all in one app. With activities like couples question cards and date ideas to deepen connection and tools like reminders and countdowns to foster relationship mindfulness, couples invest in their relationships at their own pace and without it feeling like “work”.
That said, at Lovewick we try to be inclusive and make the app flexible to use solo, if you so choose. You can use Lovewick on your own (“unpaired”) and still browse date ideas or date night questions to bring up later with a partner, or you can choose to pair the app with your partner and create your own special, collaborative place where you can explore and commemorate together – it’s up to you.
With 4.9 stars in the Apple App Store, over 300,000 users, and a variety of free features, Lovewick really is the best “all-in-one” app for couples and relationships. The app is home to the internet’s largest free library of questions for couples, creative date ideas, spicy bedroom inspiration, and research-based relationship advice as well as anniversary countdowns, memory scrapbooking, and other fun features to keep your relationship fun and exciting!
